Vibes

Over the past few months, I've rewritten, thrown away, half-finished, and completed enormous amounts of software. And it's a genuine joy to be able to simply try things out that I would never have had the patience or experience to tackle by hand. Since around May or so:

Bits und so and Related Stuff

  • Bits und so App 2 for iOS (and Android Beta)
  • Push server for it
  • iOS app for myself to manage it
  • Show notes: Runko collaborative editor
  • Silly episode artwork
  • Bug fixes for in-app purchases in PHP
  • Bug fixes for WordPress 2
  • Redacted
  • relive.tv
  • Slack integration for it
  • New video contribution app for macOS
  • Official Mumble: Apple Silicon build
  • Notarization and Sparkle for it
  • New chapter marker with MIDI integration and MOTU interface
  • Show clock on an ESP Cheap Yellow Display
  • Show clock for macOS
  • Completely new Mumble client
  • iOS version of it
  • bitsundso.plus with Revolut integration
  • Workflow tools: modernized FCP X integration, EBU loudness, MP3 encoding, optimized resampling
  • Installed Matrix, ditched Slack
  • Transcripts!

Outside of Bits und so

And there are probably dozens of other things missing from this list.

The catch, with Balkonkraftwann for example: How finished is finished enough to ship it? The onboarding wizard is still rough around the edges, how and where should the paywall go, and how am I supposed to handle support for all the weird and wonderful solar setups out there in the wild?

Regarding the other iOS apps: flawed concepts, difficult to polish, but whatever.

One thing I've still been putting off with the Bits und so app: migrating in-app purchases to StoreKit 2. Discussed it extensively, but haven't found a good solution yet.

We've come an incredibly long way since those first steps with the now-discontinued Phind.

Tim made his own Google Earth in a week.

Ad Astra!
