Amazon put the Fire TV Stick on sale in Germany at 9 a.m. today. The regular price is €40. Today and tomorrow, Prime members get 50% off; new Prime subscribers pay only €7.
Update: By the end of May, the reduced price was €29.
In my opinion, the larger Fire TV is the best streaming box available right now. Amazon Prime is catching up, thanks in part to interesting original productions and a larger selection of content in its original language. The Netflix app offers the nicest way to access Germany’s most interesting streaming catalogue. The rest of the app selection is fairly unexciting, but that may improve.
The Fire TV Stick has a little less hardware power, but should do just as well—and at the introductory price, it can’t hurt.
